The Blackpool Air Show 2025

Chasing Thrills—The Blackpool Air Show and The Blenheim Mount

When the roar of engines shatters the quiet sea breeze over Blackpool, adrenaline spikes among locals and tourists alike. Each August, the Blackpool Air Show transforms the skyline above the Irish Sea into a canvas of looping aerobatics, blazing trails, and thunderous formation flights.

From circa 12:00pm until 4:30pm on the weekend of 16–17 August 2025, military squadrons and civilian stunt teams vie for aerial supremacy. Since its modern revival in 2006, the show has consistently attracted crowds exceeding 200,000 over two days. If you crave sky-high thrills, few experiences rival watching the Red Arrows execute their signature diamond nine formation—or marveling as an F-35 jets roar past the Tower at almost Mach 1.

Staying at The Blenheim Mount guarantees you the best seat in the house. Our Central Promenade location places you mere meters from the action: rather than jostle for a patch of sand, reserve a table on our rooftop terrace for a brunch-and-jet-fuel spectacular. Picture this: Belgian waffles fresh off the griddle, black pudding pancakes paired with smoked streaky bacon, and an espresso approaching perfection—while Vulcan bombers whistle past on their way into display.

The hotel’s north-facing balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows bring the entire aerial parade into frame. You’ll feel the rumble in your chest as jets scream overhead.

Blackpool Air Show 2025 itinerary reads like a bucket list:

  • Saturday, 16 August: Show kicks off at 12:00pm. Highlights include the RAF Typhoon solo display (12:15pm), Breitling Wingwalkers performing on vintage Stearman biplanes (1:30pm), and a lunchtime display by the USAF F-22 Raptor (2:45pm). Spectators can stroll along a static display at North Pier from 10:00am—walk through life-size cockpits of Tornados, Typhoons, and T-6 Texans.

  • Sunday, 17 August: Begins at 11:45am with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s Lancaster flypast; followed by the Red Arrow’s high-speed finale at 3:00pm. The last act, a pair of Yakovlev Yak-3s, closes the show with a precision aerobatics routine around 4:15pm.

Beyond the thunderous displays, there’s something almost meditative about the unpredictable dance of aircraft against endless blue. Pilots share friendly waves as they taxi on North Pier’s runway (yes, a runway—Blackpool remains one of the few seaside towns in the UK with a pier-mounted launch point). If you time it right, you can wander along the deck to meet aviators post-flight at the Pilot Meet & Greet (North Pier pavilion, 5:00–6:00pm), collect autographs, and snap selfies in front of the iconic Spitfire XV446.

For families, the Show’s Kids’ Zone offers engineering workshops—let Junior build a wooden glider, attend Q&A panels with Wingwalker pilots, or test his mettle in a VR combat simulation. Food trucks line the Promenade, serving everything from wood-fired pizzas to gourmet popcorn overlaid with sea salt. Treat yourself to a Blackpool classic: deep-fried Mars bars from Scoops Ice Cream Parlour, or grab a lobster roll from Seagull Joe’s popup kitchen. All proceeds benefit local aviation museums, so you’re, in a sense, preserving future air shows as you snack.

If you prefer a more boutique experience, The Blenheim Mount’s “Wing Commander Package” includes: one-night accommodation in a sea-view corner suite, two complimentary passes to the VIP Lounge on North Pier (accessed via private entrance), and a signed print from a Red Arrows pilot. Return to your suite after the show and relive the day through the lens of our in-room 4K camera rig (available on request). Share your best footage on social media; we’ll feature select clips on our official Blackpool Air Show gallery on Instagram.

With the show spanning two days, question isn’t whether you should stay—it’s where. A quick ten-minute walk from our front door leads to the Blackpool Tower, where you can ride the glass-floored SkyDrop Tower Eye for a birds-eye contrast: instead of roaring jets, you’ll gaze serenely at the coastline below. Or meander three minutes east to the seaward end of the Central Pier: here, “Airborne” food stalls specialize in mayonnaise-laced seafood bap and pint-sized Yorkshire puddings stuffed with pulled pork, perfect for refueling between displays.
