The dance festival is held in Blackpool each year has been a part of Blackpool’s history for over 80 years.. Today there are five different dance festivals held here annually.

Junior Dance Festival1st April - 7th April 2024

Champion of Champions Solo Titles 1st-2nd April 2024

The Blackpool junior dance festival has been running since 1974 with younger dancers from all over the world competing at The Blackpool Tower Ballroom. After 52 years at the Tower Ballroom the festival is moving to a new home - The Empress Ballroom, situated inside the Winter Gardens. The festival celebrated its 50th Birthday in 2007 and incorporates the british junior open campionships. In tradtion the festival always commences on Easter Monday & finishes 7 days later on the Sunday. There are two age groups... 6 to 12 years and the juniors 12 and under 16 years.

There are 3 branches of dancing- Latin American, Ballroom and Sequence. Over seven days there are 29 competitions - four team matches and three formation competitions. In 2011 there were over 33 countries represented at the festival with 400 couples, 9 sequence formation teams and 83 latin/ballroom formation teams entered in various events at winter gardens.

Blackpool Dance Festival.18th-31st May 2024

The festival began in 1920 in the Empress Ballroom Winter Gardens, covering a period of nine days - this is by far the largest of all five Blackpool festival. The festival covers Ballroom and Latin American dancing, incorporating the British open campionships for adult amateur and professional couples, plus formation teams.

The two invitation events, the professional team match on the saturday and the exhibition competiotion on the thursday evening, create a vast amount of interest and crowd appeal. 2011 was the event's 86th year and there was 60 countries represented. A total number of 2,843 entries in the 12 events, 6 ballroom formation teams and 12 latin formation teams enterted the various event.

The British Freestyle Championships covers Solos, Premier Championships, Teams, Slow dance and Couples/Pairs.

The Championships will take place in the beautiful Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens.

Blackpool Sequence Dance Festival, October (8th & 9th 2022)

The blackpool sequence dance festival covers classic, modern and latin sequence dancing. The format has changed over the years - 2009 saw the 60th anniversary of the championships held in the Empress Ballroom, Winter Gardens. The festival takes on two separate events, the childrens and adults dancing. The Saturday is devoted to the children who dance in various competitions.

The Adults dance on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The Inventive dance competetion is on the Monday, with the winning dance being taught on the Tuesday morning. The British sequence championships are held on all three evenings

British National Dance ChampionshipNext Event: 16th - 19th November 2023

The British national dance championships were originally entitled, the British closed championships, which was confusing for many people and so, in 1997 the titles were changed. 2004 saw the 30th anniversary of the championships with the ballroom and Latin dancing for British couples only.

The festival covers three days and takes place in the beautiful Empress Ballroom, Winter Gardens. The Juveniles and juniors dance on the Saturday afternoon and early evening. Every year the festival attracts more competitors, in 2010 the total numbers of entries was 585, with many more spectators.
